Having a ball

-

Whenever a story like this fills up all the headlines, I can’t help wondering what other story it’s keeping out of the news . . .

Alistair Foden You couldn’t make this up.this was the result of research carried out by the Campaign against Antisemitism in 2017: Labour voters, the young and remain voters are the least anti-semitic group in the country; conversely, Tory voters, Leave voters and older people are much more anti-semitic! People see this for what it is and it will no doubt fail to undermine Corbyn’s place atop the Labour Party. Desperate people using desperate measures. Even giving the Tory Party ammunition to call Corbyn anti-semitic? Oh the irony.

Cluaran Even Jeremy Corbyn accepts that this is not a “smear” and that there is a significant anti-semitic element in the Labour Party.

Arch Stainton Social media has wrecked politics, and could well end up wrecking democracy. Members of governments across the world now find it is more important to provide instantaneous comment before democratic debate.

As a kid, me and my mates played football at the pitches at Northfield Broadway, along with many other groups of kids. We would often have a “take on” and to this day I still have a chat with some of them. Now these pitches are empty. The only time I see kids there now is something organised by their school. There is no sign that says “no ball games”. It’s not the councils’ fault children are less active, it is the parents.

David Black I remember our local park had a sign saying “Ball Games Prohibited”. None of us knew what that meant so we just got on with it!

Neil Mcrobb Should replace with sign stating “no dog fouling”. Encourage kids to play in green spaces; discourage dog fouling. Unfortunately, most green spaces are just a big dog toilet.

Lindsay Aitken One of the fading relics of my childhood. Leave them alone.
