CLASSICS HEAD FOR PERTHSHIRE

Hundreds of classic cars will be gathering in Perth this weekend for the Perthshire Classic Car Festival.

Staged over April 21 and 22, the festival sees a range of events including a classic car parade, static car show and drive around the scenic roads of Perthshire.

At the heart of the event is the Classic Car Day, held in the grounds of Scone Palace.

More than 300 cars ranging from the early 1900s to the 2000s will be on show at club stands celebratin­g a range of the most recognised names in motoring.

A number of unique vehicles will also be on display, including Colin Mcrae’s legendary World Rally winning BAT 555 Subaru Impreza; a reliabilit­y record-setting Jaguar XK120 and a number of classic Ecurie Ecosse cars.

One hundred and fifty of the show vehicles will also take part in a parade and display in Perth city centre from 10am to 1.30pm on Saturday before heading back to Scone Palace.

On Sunday, the event will move to Blairgowri­e for the annual Drive It Day. Eighty cars will leave the town on a tour of the region with Prince Michael of Kent joining them in a Jaguar XK120.

The car show gets underway at 10am on Saturday with the parade cars leaving the palace for Perth city centre.

All money raised through the festival will be donated to Cancer Research UK, Alzheimer,scotland and the rotary Foundation.
