Thieves spring shocking theft at town bridge

-

Thieves are being sought after stealing lights from a bridge.

Floodlights worth £4,000 were stolen from the Landshut Bridge in Elgin, Moray, between 15 March and 5 April. Police said the lights, which were used to illuminate the bridge – named after the town’s twin in Germany – have been turned off.

Each individual light costs £1,000. A series of cables were also stolen from the bridge after thieves cut through a security chain. Engineers said it was possible the thieves may have suffered an electric shock.
