Life sciences firm strikes sales deal for allergy tests

- By PERRY GOURLEY

Omega Diagnostics, the Scottish life sciences firm focused on testing for allergies and food intolerance, has struck a global distribution deal.

Under the agreement, Immunodiagnostic Systems will exclusively distribute Alva-based Omega’s “Allersys” range of allergy tests.

Colin King, chief executive of Omega, said although the agreement was expected to lead to “modest sales growth in the short term”, the longterm potential of the agreement was significant.

“We are excited that with our development capability and IDS’ instrument and commercial expertise we can make a significant difference within the allergy testing market,” he said.

Earlier this month Omega announced plans to close its factory in India and a business in Germany in a bid to cut costs.
