What’s the last piece of clothing you bought?

Apart from basics, the last item of note was a beautiful Ted Baker peach blossom silk scarf. I have barely taken it off.

What are you addicted to buying?

Shoes. Any and all kinds.

Best ever bargain?

A pair of dove grey silk Christian Dior shoes I purchased in Germany in 2007. They were a bargain at the time.

Who has great style?

All UK based fashion students. I admire their openness and courage. They deserve all the funding they can get. And Michelle Obama. She carved her own way in the eight years she was in the White House. Her use of colour, shape, and her complete fearlessness was and still is stylish.

Name your favourite high street shop.

I don’t have a favourite high street shop, I am happiest in fabric shops searching for interesting and beautiful fabrics.

Any fashion disasters you’d care to tell us about?

A velour jumpsuit I wore in the late Seventies. I still cringe today at the thought.

What’s your favourite item in your wardrobe?

A Twenties black silk coat lined in peacock blue silk jacquard. It’s a timeless heirloom. Every timeiweari ti a min a we of the minute detailing and stitching. n
