Huddersfie­ld avoid drop with draw at Chelsea

After being dethroned by Manchester City as champions, Anotnio Conte’s side will be scrapping to make the top four and qualify for the Champions League on the final day on Sunday.

Elsewhere last night, Tottenham secured their Champions League spot after beating Newcastle United 1-0. Harry Kane curled home the only goal of the game – his 28th league goal of the season – in the second half to move Spurs into third place.

Arsenal have still to win a point away from home this year after they lost 3-1 at Leicester City in Arsene Wenger’s penultimat­e match as manager. Kelechi Iheanacho opened the scoring for the hosts and then Arsenal had Konstantin­os Mavropanos sent off just 92 seconds later. Pierreemer­ick Aubameyang brought the Gunners level but Jamie Vardy’s penalty and Riyad Mahrez’s late goal settled the game.

It means City will on Sunday set the record for most points, most goals and most wins in a single Premier League season. Stenhousem­uir are firmly in the driving seat for a place in League 1 next season after beating Peterhead 2-0 in the first leg of their play-off final at Ochilview.

Warriors skipper Mick Dunlop grabbed a brace on a night where strikers on both sides missed golden opportunit­ies.

Peterhead’s Scott Brown tried to bring some finesse to a frantic opening 13 minutes with a delicate curling effort from 20 yards but it went wide.
