On Thursday Alex Salmond said, in his “Morningside declaration” that he would return to frontline politics as soon as Nicola Sturgeon fires the starting gun for a second independence referendum.

“Morningside Declaration”? Pretentious much? Really this has only been a matter of time. It has been long surmised that Salmond has viewed the SNP as his personal fiefdom. Give Alex Salmond some credit, against the overwhelming odds in the 2014 referendum. It would have taken a swing of 5.3% or 191,970 votes from No to Yes and the Yes campaign would have won. Of course, this does not change the result but... Rocabarraigh
