Come on Arlene

-

DUP leader Arlene Foster has been invited to lead a major Orange Order march in Scotland. The Northern Ireland Assembly member is expected to be star guest at the Boyne demonstration in Cowdenbeath, Fife, later this month.

I avoid Orange Marches as much as I can, I find them shudderingly embarrassing, cringeworthy and a total waste of time, but they do have a democratic right.

I wouldn’t go near it under any circumstances. I have NEVER seen or heard of a “peaceful” Orange march.

Gustav Gustavsson

It depends what you mean by peaceful. There is certainly music and noise, but there is very rarely any trouble. To be offended by an Orange parade is as absurd as being offended by the Salvation

Army brass band.

Jack Smith

What an embarrassment! The people of Fife should be squirming in their shell-suits! As if Scotland doesn’t have enough on its plate without importing the scum politics of Northern Ireland for a day! These people have no place in politics-anywhere on the planet! As their inability to form a government in their own country shows!

John Smith

Whatever we may think of this organisation, it has every right to celebrate its antediluvian traditions, and invite whoever it wants to its annual events.

Samuel Coldstream Great to see the leader of Northern Ireland invited over to Scotland. I’m sure she will give a great speech to the Orange/protestant community in Scotland. Arlene herself comes from this cultural background and so is a natural speaker to invite along.

Simon Wiggins

Mebbe they should have invited Trump instead, his skintone would fit right in!
