Historic accountanc­y specialist launches business technology service

0 Allan Davidson will lead the new digital division Accountant Chiene + Tait has enhanced its business technology service offering with the launch of a digital division.

The service, part of the firm’s business support department, caters for all types of clients, including charities and a wide range of SMES, to “help them take advantage of the efficien- cies and opportunit­ies presented by developmen­ts in technology”.

It will offer advice and support in areas including HMRC’S Making Tax Digital programme, open banking solutions and the wider financial eco-system of integrated solutions. The new division will also offer guidance for clients looking to enhance their internal management informatio­n reporting, by carrying out process efficiency reviews.

The digital division will be led by business support manager Allan Davidson and will involve recruiting new staff, as well as utilising existing resources across C+T’S offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness.

Carol Flockhart, managing partner at the firm, said: “With technology playing an increasing­ly important role in the success of businesses and organisati­ons, clients need great advice on the best software solutions that will help them maximise growth.”

She added: “The new digital division harnesses our collective knowledge of accounting technology and our in-depth experience across many key sectors. This expertise will be applied to deliver tailored financial systems to suit their long term needs as their business evolves.”

The firm was founded in 1885 when George Chiene Jnr appointed James Tait as a partner in his firm.

It said a year ago that it was expanding into Glasgow following a period of “significan­t growth” and after it set up shop in Inverness in November 2016.
