No anonymity for stars online

-

A senior judge has said it’s pointless granting celebrities anonymity in court cases if their identity is widely published online.

Lord Jonathan Mance said social media sites such as Twitter had created problems for judges in such cases.

He said: “Obviously if everybody knows their name there is no point in the law trying to shut the door after the horse has bolted.” He insisted judges remained impervious to the influence of social media.
