Call for ban on dirty engines in city centre
Environmental campaigners have called on Glasgow to bring forward the banning of polluting vehicles from Scotland’s first low emission zone ahead of a city council vote.
Friends of the Earth Scotland wants all but the cleanest engines out of the city centre from 2021.
Councillors are due to decide tomorrow whether to complete the ban in 2022. The first buses are to be outlawed next January.
Air pollution campaigner Emilia Hanna said: “We need decisive action which sees all the dirtiest vehicles out of the city centre as soon as feasibly possible.”
