ATOS IT outrage

-

I am outraged that the contract for assessing PIP claims has been extended by two years to ATOS, who have an appalling track record of complaints made about their assessment procedures, causing some applicants’ mental health to deteriorate in the process.

However, it is more concerning that the reason why ATOS still have the contract is that this government does not have the IT systems in place to administer its own benefits. It is a disgraceful way to govern a country by outsourcing work simply because they don’t have their own systems in place.

The SNP, as usual, are complaining about how awful it is to disabled people. However, they have no right to complain given that they have had to ask Westminster to keep welfare powers until 2020.

So while the SNP use this issue as another grievance to point score, and Westminster don’t have their own systems in place, it is vulnerable disabled people who are still at the hands of a heartless inept organisation.

Both Holyrood and Westminster’s talk of caring for the vulnerable are nothing short of hot air.
