Jobs bonanza provided by capital retail park centre

0 Participat­ing employers at the recruitmen­t and skills centre have included Primark and M&S A recruitmen­t and skills centre at the Ford Kinnaird retail and leisure developmen­t on the outskirts of Edinburgh has helped more than 3,000 people into work over the past five years.

A report released today also reveals that one retail job in 20 in Edinburgh and one job in every 200 in the city is now supported by Fort Kinnaird.

The site directly employs some 2,000 people and contribute­s £53 million annually to the Edinburgh economy.

The recruitmen­t and skills centre was formed in 2013 with the support of parent company British Land in partnershi­p with Capital City Partnershi­p, City of Edinburgh Council (including Business Gateway), Department for Work and Pensions (Jobcentre Plus), East Lothian Council, East Lothian Works, Midlothian Council and Skills Developmen­t Scotland.

Liam Smith, centre director at Fort Kinnaird, said: “Our investment in the community is creating a significan­t positive impact.”
