Oil and gas workers to strike over hours

Oil and gas workers at a processing plant on Shetland are to go on strike due to proposed changes to working rotas.

The decision by Unite members at Total E&P Shetland Gas Plant centres around a row over plans to move to a three-weeks-on three-weeks-off pattern.

Workers voted by 96.8 per cent in support of industrial action, with a 96.9 per cent turnout. Similar ballots are to take place for those on the Alwyn, Elgin and Dunbar platforms over company proposals to review terms and conditions across its North Sea operations.
