Maradona wants to give team talk

Diego Maradona, who led Argentina to World Cup glory in 1986, has requested a meeting with the current squad before their final, do-or-die Group D match against Nigeria tomorrow.

Insisting he “would love” to meet coach Jorge Sampaoli’s players following last week’s 3-0 defeat by Croatia, Maradona said: “I’m furious and very upset, because anyone who has worn that shirt can’t see it being trampled like that by a Croatian team that isn’t Germany, that isn’t Brazil, that isn’t Holland or Spain.”
