Legalising cannabis could bring in more than £1 billion a year in tax revenues, a think tank has claimed. Their report claims the current black market for cannabis is worth £2.6 billion a year.

posted: “If you legalise cannabis then you destroy the need for illegal markets. If you read about California decriminalising it, some of those most against it were the criminals profiting from the illegal market.”

@themouseoutfit wrote: “When will UK politicians wake up and see that the way cannabis is controlled here in Amsterdam works. You can buy it safely without having to visit a street dealer and they can monitor the quality and collect taxes. Simple really”

@gold_frank had this idea: “Just legalise cannabis for recreational use in seaside towns only. All seaside towns get the boost they need to be awesome and we get to go seaside all time”

Nicola Sturgeon’s Cabinet reshuffle continued to cause comment.

@Ian_burnett_ said: “Can’t even organise a reshuffle. Nicola Sturgeon said she will take it on the chin. That’s sensible. After all, it was her decision. As usual, no dignity in defeat. Accepts the criticism then questions her critics.”

@meejahor said: “Everyone who was hoodwinked into believing Gillian Martin was some sort of bigoted transphobe should go and read the blog post in question. Clearly satirical. Clearly NOT transphobic. Yes the quotes were taken out of context. They clearly didn’t reflect her views.”
