Business confidence high as Scots job vacancies rise in June

- By SCOTT REID

Job vacancies rose across Scotland last month as businesses“remain confident” about their prospects, a new report has suggested.

Advertised job vacancies in Scotland increased by 6 per cent year-on-year in June, according to the latest statistics from job site CV- Library.

The report also revealed that some of the country’ s key cities saw solid increases in job vacancies last month.

Lee Big gins, founder and managing director of CV-Library, said :“We typically see recruitment slowing down over summer months, but these hikes in job vacancies suggest that businesses across Scotland are continuing to push hard to attract tal- en ted candidates into their roles.

“What’s more, the country is thriving right now, which is great news for both organisations and job hunters across Scotland.”

Despite the increase in vacancies, advertised salaries registered a small decrease of 2.2 percent, month-onmonth, and candidate application rates were not quite keeping pace with employer demand.

Big gins added :“It’ s clear from the data that businesses across Scotland were remaining very active in their recruitment efforts last month. With June marking two years since the Brexit vote, it’s positive to see that firms are still working hard to secure talented new recruits and continue driving the economy forward.”
