Backing England?

-

More than 20 million people across the UK were expected to watch live coverage last night of the World Cup semifinal between England and Croatia, but questions remained over how many in Scotland would be cheering on Gareth Southgate’s side. It can be no coincidence since that Scotland got devolution we have not managed to qualify for any major tournament.

Mike Lowery against SNP lies

Well, since the problems causing our inability to qualify predate devolution it clearly is a coincidence.

Good luck, Croatia. The vast majority of Europeans are right behind you.

Dal Well, simply put they’re there and we are not; OK, they’ve had it relatively easy and tonight will be their biggest test, but as a neutral I wish them all the best and have no problems with them progressing and indeed winning the World Cup. More’s the pity Scotland will never reach such heights.

As the man said, at this level it’s 90 per cent luck and 10 per cent skill… just don’t turn up without that 10 per cent.

This has been a World Cup of upsets, the big guns arrived with no plan and were sent packing. England have done a remarkable job in getting to where they are, and a win would cement their position as one of the world’s best sides. I do believe they will beat France in the final, and football will once again be in its rightful home. The English lads in that team are out there doing their best for the country, and I wish them all the best.

Media One Voice It is not the team or the management that most Scots dislike, it’s the arrogant fans, commentators and English media who would harp on about it for decades to come. They still go on about ‘66 as if it was last week.
