Young Scots beat Wales in opener
Scotland made a solid start to the European Youth Championships in the Czech Republic yesterday with a 4-0 win over Wales in the opening pool match.
However, the Scots youngsters had to be satisfied with second spot behind Russia who thumped Lithuania 10-1 earlier in the day.
Watsonians’ Georgia Jones put the Scots in front in the first minute, before a low shot from Clydesdale Westerns Lexi Sabatelli doubled the lead. The result was effectively sealed with a quick-fire double from Grove Menzieshill’s Jenny Walls.
Today the Scots face the free-scoring Russians.
Meanwhile in Antwerp, Great Britain women’s Under-23 side secured a 3-2 victory over hosts Belgium in their opening match in a six nations tournament.
