Burness Paull strengthens partner count

- By EMMA NEWLANDS

Law firm Burness Paull, which ranks as one of the largest players north of the Border, has increased its partner count, reinforcing key areas of the business.

The firm said that the appointment of the four partners strengthens its senior talent pool as its new management team officially takes the helm.

Peter Lawson today takes over as chairman while Tamar Tammes moves into the role of managing partner. The duo is leading an “ambitious” threeyear growth plan, building on the firm’s progress in Scotland, the UK and internationally.

Lawson said the firm has made key appointments in “strategically important” practice areas and across its three offices – in Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Aberdeen.

The firm is installing Gary Chapman as a partner in its corporate finance team, in a move the firm says shows its faith in Aberdeen’s oil and gas market, while its employment law offering is bolstered with Morag Moffett and Jennifer Skeoch becoming partners.

Additionally, Allan Leal becomes a partner in the banking and funds team, adding to the firm’s “wealth of experience” in the sector.

Tammes said: “Our clients and colleagues are at the heart of everything we do, and our remit is to continue to keep our partners and staff motivated and excited by the firm we are growing. We believe we have the most talented team in the Scottish legal market, and Gary, Jen, Morag and Allan are fantastic additions to our partner team.”
