Doing sums
Contrary to what Carole Ford says spending on Scottish education has not fallen by £400 million “annually” for the last ten years.
And contrary to the report on this topic by Scott Macnab, the figures he quoted from Spice do not include the £750 million allocated by the Scottish government to be spent in the course of this parliament on closing the attainment gap.
It’s also unfortunate for Ms Ford’s agenda that the exam results out on the same day contradict her perennially gloomy view of Scottish education.
