Bbc-bashing

-

The latest critics of the BBC, calling on social media for us to all to switch it off due to what they perceive as bias, are a tough crowd to please. Per-

haps time spent on the internet in echo chambers reinforcing their own preferences has left them over-sensitive to hearing different points of view.

The BBC try hard to give all sides a chance to air their opinions, with reporters asking difficult questions of politicians across the political spectrum. But some simply prefer to view the BBC as yet another source of grievance.

The BBC are getting it from all sides. They have upset the Corbynistas, Ukip and those even further to the right. They have, needless to say, angered the SNP – to start with anything with “British’’ in its title must be hated and suspect – and in my own admittedly slightly skewered view I feel BBC Scotland is far too soft and kowtowing when questioning Nationalists. So, from across the political spectrum, the BBC are being pilloried.

On reflection, that would suggest to me that perhaps they are striking the right note.
