Cowie fitting in

When Don Cowie returned to Scotland to join Hearts a couple of years ago, I thought that we might have missed our opportunity to see him play for his boyhood club again. Hearts’ loss is Ross County’s gain in this instance, because Cowie has looked after himself well enough that he can put in the performance expected of him for a couple of years yet.

I wondered where Cowie would fit into the team, because midfield was our strongest area. But Jamie Lindsay looked like he picked up a bad ankle injury at Hibs, which is a shame because he’s had a very good start to the season, but it gave Cowie an opportunity to get minutes early on. The change was almost seamless – as much a compliment to Lindsay as it is to Cowie.
