PAYMENTS GUARANTEE

The notice states that, in the case of a no-deal Brexit, support payments will continue under the terms of the UK government’s funding guarantee – which covers EU programmes and extends until the end of 2020.

In the early stages, EU law will be preserved as it currently stands with the same standards, and on-site inspections continuing until new agricultural bills are enacted by the UK government and the devolved administrations.

It also states that the UK government has pledged to continue to commit the same cash total in funds for farm support – covering both pillar 1 and pillar 2 – until the end of this parliament, expected in 2022. However, NFU Scotland said there had still been no detail on which aspects of “farm support” were covered.
