‘Ambitious’ lorry firm revs up jobs growth

- By EMMA NEWLANDS

A commercial vehicle specialist is aiming to create up to 50 jobs in North Lanarkshire later this year, after its largestever property investment into a “super site” in Airdrie

The multi-million-pound injection by MV Commercial in the eight-acre site on the Brownsburn Industrial Estate, formerly operated by TOM Vehicle Rental, is expected to create new roles and apprenticeships in engineering, maintenance, sales and administration, as the Livingston-based company that started out in 2001 starts an “ambitious” growth phase.

MV Commercial, which offers light and heavy goods vehicle sales, rental and service from existing Uk-wide bases in Livingston, Haydock and Luton, will move most of its 120-strong workforce to the site in November.

The new facilities on offer include multiple workshops with specialist testing facilities, 36 commercial vehicle ramps, several HGV inspection pits, a paint and blasting facility with eight booths, 6.3 acres of outdoor vehicle storage space, as well as 90,000 square feet of internal work space.

Steven Cairns, group managing director of MV Commercial, commented: “The exciting acquisition of this new facility is the next step in MV Commercial’s ambitious development strategy for Scotland and beyond, and we look forward to bringing in local talent to help fuel this growth.”

The firm’s chief executive Tom O’rourke added that the move “will give our business invigorating new potential… [and] a real springboard for our ambitious growth plans”. 0 MV Commercial chief executive Tom O’rourke
