Sometimes
If you’ve spent time in Germany, you might already know Nora Gomringer. In the early 2000s she was a prominent voice in Germany’s nascent slam scene, and today she is known both as a poet and a presenter whose writing blurs the boundaries between performance and page. Gomringer’s poetry has been translated into English by Annie Richardson for a new collection, Hydra’s Heads (Burning Eye Books, £9.99), and it is here that you can find her pithy piece, ‘Sometimes.’
sometimes the soul is that thing which the cat after hunting drags home no more than a dead mouse and yet you still jump onto the chair in flight You can find a copy of Hydra Heads by Nora Gomringer at the Scottish Poetry Library, 5 Crichton’s Close, Edinburgh EH8 8DT.
