The Scottish Government’s draft climate change bill will not be effective enough for Scotland to meet its obligations under the 2016 Paris Agreement, a study has shown.

The SNP renewables figures are meaningless as they take no account of the mainly fossil fuel-generated electricity from England which is essential to balance the intermittent Scottish wind electricity supply and to take over completely when Scotland is becalmed.

Doug Brodie “Scotland has led the way in the global effort to minimise the damage of climate change, with the ambitious Climate Change Act in 2009 and by transitioning its electricity sector from fossil fuels to renewables.” In the meantime, it sells oil and gas to other countries. Oil and gas, which when burned, releases greenhouse gas emissions that will not show up on Scotland’s inventory.

By 2050 the delusion that CO2 controls climate will be well and truly sunk. Still, it will come too late to prevent trillions being wasted trying to stop a natural phenomenon. The tragedy will be that most of the developing world will still be living in energy poverty, thanks mainly to our idiotic politicians abetted by the equally thick Greens.

It is not the North of Britain that has to worry about meeting its climate change targets. After this summer’s tropical summer in Southern England, which could well become the norm, the only way to cope with dangerous high temperatures is air conditioning. Expensive air conditioning is the major part of energy bills in hot countries.
