Partick Thistle No goal, no explanation

- Raymond Stark

It’s difficult to know where to begin with the ridiculous situation that arose at Firhill around 16.13 on Saturday. A corner is scrambled clear by the Morton defence before being picked up by Kris Doolan who rifles one of the best goals of his career off the underside of the bar, sees the net bulge and wheels away to celebrate with his team-mates. 2-0 Thistle, game over.

A Morton defender boots the ball off the pitch into the stand in frustration while his teammates trudge towards the halfway line. Then suddenly, 20 yards from goal the assistant referee puts a flag up. He’d come from the corner flag, we still await an explanation for what he saw. We also got two players booked for remonstrating about a perfectly good goal!
