#LABOUR

London Mayor Sadiq Khan has come out in favour of a second referendum on the UK’S membership of the EU, adding to pressure on Jeremy Corbyn and Scottish Labour leader Richard Leonard to follow suit.

@Mcbottheindyman said: “I believe Richard Leonard would struggle to find hay in a haystack, he does not know the difference between devolved and reserved.”

@bighvan added: “With Richard Leonard at the helm Labour in Scotland are a busted flush.”

@stevenhowsonlab said: “Labour drifted from being a party of ordinary people and voters left in their droves. Leonard knows this and is working hard to rebuild True Labour, the people’s party.”

#VAR

Video referees will soon arrive in the Scottish top flight, Motherwell chief Alan Burrows predicted.

@Steffmcd80 said: “VAR is needed in Scotland but I think goal line technology should be brought in first.”

@Rossmcg91 added: “We supposedly can’t afford goal line technology in Scotland. What hope we got for VAR.”

@nrpsimpson posted: “World Cup converted me to VAR, but for Scotland, only if it’s a relatively cheap implementation. But if clubs can’t accept the review panel, what chance does VAR have?”

@how_greg argued: “I can’t believe that there is any talk at all, of introducing VAR in Scotland at a cost of around £10K per game while the majority of our clubs do not pay the Living Wage to all staff. Skewed priorities.”

#GLASGOWUNI

Glasgow University received benefits worth the equivalent of up to £199 million from slave trade cash, researchers have found. @elliefernyhough tweeted: “1: Glasgow uni has committed to creating a memorial/study centre as reparations for the money it received from slavery vs 2: Bristol still commemorates slavers, has taken no real action of recompense... 85% of the uni was funded by slavery”

@Harrygiles said: “Whenever these things are brought up, as in the case of Glasgow Uni’s recent statement, we’re at pains to say ‘But we were also antislavery!’ We can’t admit our murderous profiteering without trying to exculpate ourselves at the same time.”
