Motherwell Cup spark needed

-

Motherwell headed north at the weekend and returned with nothing from a performance which scarcely deserved more. On the other hand, you can question how much Aberdeen actually did – and television showed we were denied a clear, and potentially crucial, penalty.

We are currently playing like a team going through the motions, and against poorer opposition we will probably be okay, but that’s far from certain. At the moment it does look certain that we have failed to kick on from solid but safe last term.

That could, of course, all change tonight if we somehow manage to get a result at Hearts in the League Cup. That tournament sparked our season to life last year and could yet do so again.
