#WORLDANIMALDAY

The social movement charged with raising the status of animals in order to improve welfare standards around the globe took over Twitter.

TV Vet @Profnoelfitz wrote: “It seems fitting that on the eve of #Worldanimalday I was able to help an owl get back to the wild. I hope that what we try to do for all animals shares an important message... It’s their planet too. We have to do the right thing & keep looking after the animals & each other.”

@age_uk added: “Happy #Worldanimalday! Today we’re celebrating #Therapyanimals and the profound effect they can have on the wellbeing of older people.”

@Treasurymog said: “On #Worldanimalday my thoughts are the same as every other day. Love and respect all animals. Big or small. See...it’s easy.”

@RNLI advised: “From waggy dogs to whales and porpoises, it’s not just people that our volunteers rescue. If you see an animal in difficulty around the coast call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard. We wouldn’t want you getting in danger too.”

@Bilijapopovic wrote: “On #Worldanimalday we pledge to always show love and compassion to animals.”

#NATIONALPOETRYDAY

Yesterday was also National Poetry Day, inviting all to enjoy, discover and share a poem. The theme this year was Change.

@Nasavoyager tweeted: “Space is lovely, vast and deep; But I have promises to keep; And miles to go before I tweet; And miles to go before I tweet...”

From @Weehalfpintt :“Ido not like Theresa May; I do not like her evil ways; I do not like her robot dance; I do not like Brexit stance; I do not like her Tory chums; I do not like her love of Trump; I do not like her Dancing Queen; I do not like her. Evergreen.”

@Hmcabinetcat purred: “When cat; Found rat; Twas the end of that.”

@Nhsorgandonor waxed lyrical: “Inside of you; Could save the lives of quite a few; Your kidney, liver, lungs or heart; Could give someone a brand new start.”

@WHO, the World Health organisation, added: “Roses are red; Violets are blue; To achieve #Healthforall; We need YOU!”

Said @Paddingtonbear: “Oranges are nice; Marmalade is sweet; I’m making a sandwich; For my afternoon treat”
