Hus­band in court over dou­ble mur­der

A man has ap­peared in court charged with mur­der­ing his es­tranged wife and her lover, both found fa­tally stabbed at a house in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

Rhys Han­cock, 39, from Der­byshire, is ac­cused of killing He­len Han­cock, a teacher, and Martin Grif­fiths at the for­mer mar­i­tal home. Mr Grif­fiths was a fa­ther-of-two.

Han­cock, who had three chil­dren – aged nine, four and three – with his wife, ap­peared at South­ern Der­byshire Mag­is­trates’ Court for a 10-minute hear­ing yes­ter­day.
