#GANDHI

A pair of glasses which once belonged to Indian leader Mahatma Gandhi sold for £250,000 at auction in Bristol this week. They had belonged to the seller’s uncle, who had been gifted them by Gandhi in the 1920s.

@Mrjamesmahon chuckled: “Hope he’s got a new pair or he won’t be able to see a thing!”

@scottysmith81 joined in: “How much did his flip-flops fetch?”

On a more serious note

@Doranwj tweeted: “Be the change you want to see.” Political leaders the world over should apply Gandhi’s mantra, it would be a better world for us all.”

@Allgonetomorrow agreed: “Wish we could get the world to put that kind of value on his philosophies.”

@Paper_champ_ commented: “£250,000 for Gandhi’s glasses? I need to start going to these auctions. The man is an historical icon.”

@Brutalist14 noted: “It is hard to get smaller round frames like that these days tbh.”

@Thehon_galahad smiled: “Should have gone to Specsavers!”

@AJB1976 chimed in: “And a lot cheaper!”

@Mike47506739 contributed: “Never seen that coming... neither did Gandhi without his specs!” @sabaone reckoned: “I was miffed as to who paid £250,000 for them? A huge over-estimation if there was one!”

@janeymachine felt: “Wouldn’t Gandhi have been horrified by this?”

#REDHOTCHILIPEPPERS

Jack Sherman, the guitarist who appeared on the debut album of the American rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers, has died at the age of 64.

@Chilipeppers announced: “We of the RHCP family would like to wish Jack Sherman smooth sailing into the worlds beyond, for he has passed. “

@Anthonytheswan1 paid tribute: “Well, it was hard to take it all in but I just wanna say RIP Jack Sherman, you were a legend.”

@Thirteensblubox concurred: “RIP Jack Sherman. May you join fellow Red Hot guitarist Hillel Slovak in funk heaven.”

@Hunterbernard opined: “Really nice eulogy for a forgotten member of (in my humble opinion) the greatest rock band of all time.” Grieving @M0THERSMLLK commented: “I could literally cry right now this is so heartbreaking... Oh my gosh, this is devastating.”
