A Covid -19 case has been confirmed within a campus at Edinburgh College as staff and students started the next academic year yesterday.

An internal email to staff, seen by The Scots man, said students and staff who had been indirect contact with the confirmed case had been contacted by NHS Lothian and would be self-isolating for 14 days.

The email advises staff based at the Granton campus who have not been contacted by the health authority to continue to attend if they remain well, to deliver teaching and support services. An Edinburgh College spokesperson said “enhanced” infection control measures and cleaning had been put in place, and that “robust” health and safety and risk assessment arrangements were done at all of their campuses. The spokesperson also said the “vast majority” of college courses and sup - port services were being delivered online.

But one person who received this email said they were worried about the college re opening to staff and students and feel it could be “putting people’ s health and live sat risk”.
