Po­lice ex­tend search for teen miss­ing since 1976

De t e c t ive s i nve s t i g a t i n g t h e d i s a p p e a r a n c e o f a young mother more than 40 years ago are ex­tend­ing their search to a res­i­den­tial area in West Dun­bar­ton­shire.

M a r y D u n c a n w a s 1 7 years old when she dis­ap­peared from her home in Alexandria in 1976.

The teenager, who had a 13-month-old daugh­ter, van­ished after telling her f a mi l y s h e wa s g o i n g t o meet a friend.

Her daugh­ter later died of nat­u­ral causes.

No trace of Mary has ever been found de­spite ex­ten­sive in­quiries.

O n 1 7 A u g u s t , p o l i c e a n n o u n c e d t h e y w e r e s e a r c h i n g a n u m b e r o f sites at the Vale of Leven Hospi­tal in Alexandria.

De­tec­tives have ex­tended the search to in­clude a res­i­den­tial site in He­lens­burgh, which started yes­ter­day.
