First glimpse of vision for homes on hospital site

-

H o u s e b u i l d e r C a l a h a s unveiled computer imagery of its plans to redevelop the former Killearn Hospital site in Stirlingshire.

Its Cala Homes ( West) arm is looking to transform the spot, which has lain derelict since the hospital closed in 1973, into a community featuring 89 new homes.

As part of its planning application, there is also an outline proposal for an area of mixeduse development, which could pave the way for future commercial usage. A care home

and office and retail units have been earmarked for the site, which Cala said would provide a local jobs boost.

Andrew Duncan, land director at Cala Homes ( West), said: “Killearn is a beautiful place to live, and our proposals will ensure there is a wider variety of housing available to support the local community as their needs change. In keeping with the rural character of the site, our plans include ample green space and would also create a new village green and play area.”
