Pupils fight for life after coach crash

-

TWO British teenagers are fighting for their lives after their coach careered off a French motorway and smashed into a ditch yesterday.

The vehicle, carrying pupils from Cheltenham Bournside School in Gloucestershire, crashed near the Swiss border. At least 15 children were injured, with French media reporting that the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel.

Most of the group were aged between 14 to 17, and had been on their way to Italy for a camping trip. The two most seriously injured students were airlifted to hospital.

There were 48 people on the coach, which set off from the UK yesterday. It was operated by North Wales firm Express Motors, and had two drivers on board.

The Foreign Office said: ‘We are providing support to a group of British nationals following a coach crash in France. We are in contact with the relevant local authorities.’
