ON THE the subject of takeaways… Kirstie Allsopp’s new book is called Kirstie’s Real Kitchen as if we are in the era of Fake Kitchens, where nobody cooks at home – which, of course, we are. The trade in prepared delivered meals is the new Klondyke economy, our roads clogged with meals on wheels from Deliveroo, Uber Eats, Just Eat, etc, all serving up takeaways in zipped bags. You can even have fast food like Kentucky Fried Chicken delivered. Soon, I predict, houses won’t have ovens, and every night will be ‘Mum’s Night Off’ like that KFC ad. Our Kirstie’s right to fight back with her Simple Recipes For Modern Families (translation: easy meals to fork in one-handed while we stare at our iPhones).
