SO, the Scottish Labour leadership contest drags on – although, like Christmas sales and Easter eggs, it never seems to finish. As you would expect there is disquiet amongst the comrades about how it is being conducted. The ‘neutral’ temporary leader, Alex Rowley, has of course declared his support for one candidate, Richard Leonard. That is a breach of protocol but Mr Rowley remains in post and, crucially, is one of the people in charge of verifying which of the new members will be entitled to vote.
The Anas Sarwar camp is naturally up in arms.
It appears that when the Corbynistas say they are in favour of giving Labour Party members a bigger say in Labour democracy, that extends to deciding which members get to vote.
