THE Labour con­test, which ends on Satur­day, has come at a cost to Anas Sar­war. Em­bar­rass­ment over his fam­ily firm’s fail­ure to pay the liv­ing wage led to the Glas­gow MSP re­lin­quish­ing al­most £5 mil­lion in shares and pub­lish­ing his tax re­turn – but for­get­ting to redact per­sonal de­tails. Mr Sar­war called his bank in case he fell vic­tim to fraud, but this led to his card be­ing re­jected at McDon­ald’s while try­ing to buy Happy Meals for his chil­dren. Dog hopes said chil­dren, who stand to in­herit his shares, coughed up.
