ridicu­lous to put a statue of Ge­orge Or­well, au­thor of 1984 and stick­ler for clear, truth­ful English, out­side the BBC’s HQ. Or­well was a Left­ist, beyond doubt. But he was also a pa­triot. And he was not the sort of soupy, eva­sive, jar­gonen­crusted Left­ist who flour­ishes at the BBC. He didn’t like the Cor­po­ra­tion when he did work for it, long be­fore it be­came the shame­less lib­eral pro­pa­ganda or­gan it is now. In fact, if Or­well were with us now, I don’t think they would wel­come him.
