City’s night shame

-

As a London night bus driver, I see an appalling number of rough sleepers and homeless in doorways in central London.

My late father came to London in the 1950s to find work and provide a better life for us. The small island he left behind, although relatively poor by British standards, never has people sleeping in the streets like this.

It is very sad to see, especially as the cold nights come in. Modern Britain really should look more closely at the saying ‘charity begins at home’. Mario Stavrinov, London
