Taxman jailed – for fiddling his own bill

-

A REVENUE & Customs official has been jailed after being exposed as a £40,000 tax cheat.

Amjad Khan, 37, dodged paying the correct income tax and fiddled his tax credits between 2002 and 2015.

For most of that time he worked at an HMRC centre in Bradford, advising people on Pay As You Earn and self-assessment schemes.

Jailing him for 20 months at Bradford Crown Court, Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC told Khan: ‘Throughout all the years you were working for HMRC… you yourself were committing fraud against the state.’
