A VISIT the National Trust website, nationaltrust.org.uk for a huge list of spring walks. You could try the Upper Tarell Valley in the Brecon Beacons, where you follow a wildlife-rich trail along what was the main coach road from the Midlands to Cardiff in the 18th Century. There are plenty of old trees along this route – alder, birch and rowan are just a few of the different species you will see in the valley. The walk will take you alongside the river Tarell, which is home to otters, dippers, salmon and sea trout. You may even spot the odd red kite.
