Too much spin in fracking debate

The Scottish Mail on Sunday - - Letters -

Ineos and ReachCSG are currently in court challenging the Scottish Government’s decision to convert a moratorium on fracking, pictured right, into an indefinite ban. Advocate James Mure, QC, acting for the Government, shocked everyone when he said there was no formal ban and that ‘the concept of an effective ban is a gloss’. Like a scene from Yes Minister, the previous assurances of Nicola Sturgeon have proved to be full of spin with no substance – just like so many of her promises. I expect Government spin doctors are already working on a plan to get it out of the hole it dug for itself. No wonder the SNP needs 44 of them – at taxpayers’ expense.
