Farm ro­bot Earth Rover can also mon­i­tor crops, spot dis­eases and de­cide when they can be picked – pos­si­bly re­plac­ing thou­sands of for­eign work­ers after Brexit.

A British firm, called Earth Rover, is work­ing with sci­en­tists who de­signed the Ex­oMars rover, a Euro­pean Space Agency ro­bot due to land on the red planet in 2020.

Earth Rover’s Paul Harter said: ‘This is the fu­ture of British farm­ing.’
