Comic response to Labour fecklessness

The Scottish Mail on Sunday - - Comment -

PLAYING a comic, foulmouthed Irish matriarch, Brendan O’Carroll seems an unlikely idol for a serious politician – but last week Glasgow North East MP Paul Sweeney, one of Labour’s rising stars, could not stop singing his praises, calling Mrs Brown’s Boys ‘one of the greatest comedy programmes on the BBC’. In fact Mr O’Carroll, whose mother Maureen was a Labour member of the Irish parliament, has a better political pedigree than many other comedians – including some already doing stand-up on the Labour front bench at Westminster.
