Sarah, lockdown’s big spender

-

MARRIED to a Sarah or a John? You may soon wish you’d hidden your credit cards.

Because Britons with those first names have been the biggest online shoppers during lockdown, a study has found.

The poll of 2,000 people revealed that 13 per cent of Sarahs have bought a minimum of 14 items online – one per week – since mid-March, closely followed by Emmas (11 per cent). The biggest male online shoppers are called John, with 8 per cent admitting to snapping up 14 items or more, followed by those named Alex – at 5 per cent. The least likely to make purchases were called Ryan, Lorraine, Robert and Paula.

The study – by price comparison website idealo.co.uk – found the most popular online purchases were clothes, gadgets, electronic goods, toys, consoles and sweets.
