The first challenge for the teams who’ve survived the heats is to make 24 perfectly identical kouign-amann (‘the fattiest pastry in all of Europe’) and soaked babas, a small yeast cake saturated in syrup made with alcohol. Then, judges Benoit Blin and Cherish Finden critique their sugar showpieces, inspired by creepy-crawlies and featuring sweets and lollipops. ★★★★★
