Polster to exit Ibrox in £300,000 USA move
RANGERS have decided to offload right-back Matt Polster, who is to join MLS side New England Revolution for a fee in the region of £300,000.
A United States internationalist, Polster arrived at Ibrox only 18 months ago but despite his versatility, he struggled to make an impression on Steven Gerrard’s team.
The 27-year-old American, who can also play in midfield, served as back-up to captain James Tavernier at right-back.
He started Rangers’ last Premiership fixture, an away win over Ross County on March 8, and also featured as a substitute in the team’s final fixture before lockdown, the Europa League defeat to Bayer Leverkusen at Ibrox.
Even with that tie unresolved, Gerrard has
decided to let the player return to the States, where he spent four years playing for Chicago Fire.
Polster (right) debuted in a league win over Hearts at Tynecastle in April of last year but made only 10 appearances for Rangers in total.
He joins Jordan Rossiter, Jason Holt, Jon Flanagan, Andy Halliday, Wes Foderingham and Jak Alnwick on the list of Ibrox departures.
